small groups. Tours are available for groups of two or more, and solo

This afternoon experience offers a gentle introduction to Shinto culture
at Ina-shimo Shrine in Izu-Matsuzaki.
You will also have the opportunity to hear local stories from the shrine
priest and view valuable cultural properties preserved on site.
English and Japanese guidance is provided.
Japanese tea and sweets are included.
What You Experience
Ema & Goshuin Experience
Write your wishes in simple Japanese and dedicate them on a traditional
wooden prayer plaque, known as an ema. Depending on the day, you may
also have the opportunity to take part in a goshuin-inspired calligraphy
experience using Japanese brush writing.
Treasury Viewing
View important cultural properties preserved by the shrine, including
works of calligraphy, waka poetry, and traditional paintings.
Talk with the Shinto Priest
Learn about Japanese spiritual traditions, the customs of Shinto, the
history of the shrine, local dragon legends, and the beliefs and ways of
life that have been passed down through generations in the region.
Japanese tea and sweets are included.

Afternoon Forest Walk & The Former Yoda Residence
Walk through the quiet cedar forests of Matsuzaki, where moss-covered
trails, flowing water, old stone statues, and Hōzō-in—the oldest temple
in Matsuzaki—create a deep sense of Japanese stillness.
After the walk, visit the Former Yoda Residence, one of the oldest
historic houses on the Izu Peninsula. Here, visitors can discover the
story of the Yoda family, a merchant family whose trade once connected
Matsuzaki with overseas markets, and explore the memory of Izu’s
modern industry.
